With recent EPA regulations mandating better control of coal combustion product (coal ash) landfills, many owners are evaluating different ways to manage groundwater and/or leachate in these facilities. Many of the landfills – long since decommissioned – were constructed without liners or drainage systems, requiring additional effort to dewater the ash.
