EXCITING NEWS FROM DTD
Today I am pleased to announce that Directed Technologies Drilling has been acquired by Ellingson Companies, based in West Concord, MN. Ellingson is a nation-wide specialty trenchless construction contractor focused on providing end-to-end solutions in water and underground infrastructure management. We had been looking for the right strategic partner to fuel our next chapter of growth and opportunity for our clients, company and employees. DTD’s past collaboration with Ellingson showed us that DTD’s culture of safety, customer focus, and work ethic compliments Ellingson’s and offers a perfect fit between the two companies.
When I started Directed Technologies Drilling (DTD) in 1996, my goal was to bring together a team of scientists, engineers, and drillers to develop horizontal directional drilling (HDD) methods that could be used to solve environmental problems. Over the last 23 years, we have made great strides in taking a drilling method, unfamiliar to the environmental industry, and developing the process into an accepted tool for environmental consultants and remediation specialists.
HDD has now become a routine application for remediation projects. In addition, DTD has led the way in applying the technology for many geotechnical uses including water resource development, mine tailings drainage, and coal combustion product stabilization. Our team has also developed and obtained patents on specialty tools, materials, and methods, including the blind well knock-off installation method and HDD radial collector well design and installation.
While having a new name and corporate structure, the management and field teams from DTD will remain to provide unparalleled expertise in the use of HDD for environmental remediation, water supply, and geotechnical applications. Effective immediately, DTD will become a division of Ellingson and do business as Ellingson-DTD.
