SVE wells installed in Sacramento

DTD recently completed the installation of two single-ended, or “blind,” Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE) wells under a former dry cleaning facility, now a shopping center, in Sacramento, CA. The two 180’ long wells were installed along both sides of an abandoned leaky sewer line that runs beneath the shopping center.

Both bores were drilled using one of our Vermeer 24×40 directional drilling rigs, which was set up on the north side of the shopping center, out of view from the store front.

This allowed the businesses to operate without disturbance as we drilled under the building and installed the wells within five of the contaminant point source.
Each well provides 120′ of screen in direct communication with the contaminant zone, delivering a cost effective solution otherwise inaccessible with vertical drilling.
