DTD has entered the Twittersphere. Well, not really. While we do not officially tweet (yet), some of our clients do. DTD is currently completing a high profile project at joint base Pearl Harbor-Hickham AFB. The project is to install horizontal soil vapor extraction wells (SVE wells) beneath LEED Silver Certified Onizuka
Below is the tweet posted by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC):
Drill Rig to Help Install SVE System at Onizuka Village Housing JBPHH
PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii (June 10, 2014) An employee from contractor Directional Technology Drilling operates a horizontal drill rig June 10 that will install a Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE) system at Onizuka Village housing on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. The system will be placed under some buildings and roads to remove and treat elevated petroleum soil vapor found 4 to 6 feet below ground surface outside some residences. The SVE system is expected to be operational in September 2014. Photo by Denise Emsley, NAVFAC Hawaii.”
The tweet misidentifies DTD as Directional Technology Drilling, but did include a picture of our specialty rock drilling rig (Vermeer 3650DR) getting ready to drill. The rig is necessary for the challenging drilling conditions consisting of coral sand, coral, and volcanic tuff. Here is a link to NAVFAC’s flicker page, and the picture posted by NAVFAC.
To date DTD has installed 3 of 4 necessary horizontal SVE wells, and is currently drilling a utility bore.
