Recently DTD installed two wells at an urban site in western Colorado/eastern Utah. These two wells will act as an injection/extraction pair to remediate a historic LUST site. The wells trend along an alley two blocks from the town’s main street. Wells are installed at approximately 27 ft bgs, with each well having 120 ft of blank riser leading to 260 ft of screen. Well material consisted of 3-inch HDPE. Drilling conditions included clays and sands. Prudent drilling practices and careful monitoring of cutting returns led to effortless blind well installation.
DTD completed this project using a Vermeer 24×40 drill rig and single pass mud system. An DCI F5 walkover navigation/locating system was used. Well layouts called for a horizontal curve along with the vertical curve to reach the target zone. Locating was successfully completed even with significant interference from both above and below ground sources.
