DTD continues its directional drilling for pipeline installation in the upper mid-west, having recently completed the installation of four bores for the installation of a 20″ diameter gas pipeline. The bores included shots that were 250′, 350′, 800′ and 1,200′ in length; several passed under roadways, utilities, and a railroad.
The bores were completed with our 100,000 and 210,000 lbs class drill rigs. The crossings are part of a larger project to replace multiple sections of older and smaller diameter pipeline along stretches of 300 miles of right of way. Crews are now operating the rigs 24 hours per day in an effort to complete the bores by Thanksgiving. To the right is a picture of night time operations along the south shore of Lake Superior, where lake effect snows began in October.
Visible in the picture is the matted work area (extensive wetlands surround the site), our rod trailer, and DTD’s newest excavator- a Case 225. In effort to facilitate the completion of this project, DTD has also added a 6×6 Vacuum Truck to our support equipment.
