1,310′ Wetland and Woodland Crossing

Posted on

DTD has successfully completed the crossing of  valuable conservation resources at the headwaters of a tributary to Loyalsock Creek, of north central Pennsylvania. The area is part of the scenic Endless Mountains Region where small streams and creeks wind through hundreds of thousands of acres of relatively undeveloped state forest and parks on the way to the Susquehanna River. It is also one of the hotbeds of the Marcellus Shale natural gas play.

The crossing was for the installation of 8″ gas pipeline beneath wetland and second growth hemlock forest, and allowed the pipeline to be laid without the habitat destruction associated with open cut trenching.iHarvey

DTD strives to complete these bores while minimizing community and ecological effects. The bore was redesigned to cross deeper beneath the wetland to reduce potential for damage along the pipeline right of way. This along with conservative drilling practices allowed the bore to be completed safely and without adverse effects on the wetland and woodland.
